So I am trying to add a few cherry barbs and mollies to my 150L tank. It has gouramis and rasboras in it. The filter's way stronger than what my tank needs, and the water's looking real good. But the shop assistant questioned my setup and told me I am overstocking Has anyone else been questioned like this at the store?

I could understand why you question that!
Shop assistants often err on the side of caution, sometimes to an extreme, when it comes to stocking levels.
A 150-liter tank is a decent size, and with gouramis and rasboras, adding a few cherry barbs and mollies shouldn't automatically lead to overstocking, especially since you said your filter is robust.
I think what needs to be clarified is what you mean by "few."
If you're talking about 3-5 of each, you'll likely be fine.
However, mollies can get quite large and produce a fair amount of waste, so keep an eye on your water parameters, particularly nitrates, after you add them.

honestly, Shop assistant might be right. A 150L tank with Gouramis, Rasboras, and adding Cherry Barbs and Mollies could indeed lead to overstocking, especially if the Mollies reproduce.
And filter strength isn't the only factor. While a strong filter helps with water quality, it doesn't increase the physical space or territory available for fish, which can lead to stress and aggression with too many inhabitants.

Some shop folks are quick to raise red flags without really knowing the full picture, if your filter's oversized, your water parameters are solid, and you're not tossing in a dozen fish at once, adding a few cherry barbs and mollies to a 150L with gouramis and rasboras isn't wild
