Best way to secure galvanized tank?

I'm adding a water feature in a galvanized trough with an HDPE liner inside. I was thinking of using pond liner joining tape to tidy up the top edge and hold the liner in place. Has anyone tried that, or is there a better method that actually holds well and looks clean?

After a few hot n cold cycles, the adhesive can start to lift so this pond liner tape route isnt the best, why not fold the HDPE liner over the rim with a clean edge and clamping it down using stainless steel split tubing (basically like a custom snap on ring)

Pond liner tape can work, but it's not always the cleanest finish over time. You can try using vinyl trim or flexible pond edging clipped over the top to give it a neater look and helps hold the liner tight.

Agree with @silverspoon099's suggestion there. Are you planning to keep it fish-free or just plants and water?

You might want to consider using heat-shrink edge trim. It fits really well, lasts a long time, and helps keep everything looking neat around the edge.
