Is your water getting too warm this summer?

When I did my evening check on the pond, most of my fish came right up, expecting their dinner like clockwork. They ate with their usual gusto, even nibbling on some Brussels sprout trimmings I tossed in. They all seem active now, but I'm a bit worried about the water temperature. I've noticed my pond thermometer creeping up and I know that prolonged high temperatures can really stress them out and lead to problems like reduced oxygen levels and increased susceptibility to disease.

What are your strategies for keeping your pond cool during hot summer months? I'm considering adding some extra aeration, and maybe even a small shade cloth over the deepest part of the pond during the hottest parts of the day. Have any of you had success with ice bottles or misters? I'd love to hear your realistic tips and experiences to ensure our finned friends stay healthy through the dog days of summer!

Extra aeration is a great move. Fountains or bubblers help boost oxygen and mix cooler bottom water with the surface. Shade cloths work well too, especially paired with floating plants like lilies or water lettuce to block sunlight. For me, I will skip ice bottles though as they can shock the system if the temp drops too fast.
