Seal a Galvanized Tank for a Water Feature

My buddy's trying to set up a water feature using a galvanized water tank with an HDPE inner liner.

I want to help him. I'm wondering if we can use pond liner joining tape around the top edge to hold the liner to the tank, just to make it look neat.

I mean, is it gonna hold the liner if he tries to sandwich them together?
Looking for any help or ideas before he dives in and potentially makes a mess of it lol

That sounds like a cool project! Pond liner tape might help tidy up the edges, but it might not hold up if there's a lot of movement or water pressure. try adding a mechanical fasterners

I say try using a fish-safe sealant like silicone or clamping the liner with a trim strip for a cleaner and more secure finish

Yup mechanical fasternes is right, then use the tape just for a neat finish. That way it wont come loose or cause leaks.

A pond liner joining tape might not be adhesive enough to withstand the stress of the liner's weight and water pressure over time.
I suggest using a series of stainless steel clips or clamps designed for this purpose!
